"The Pumping Class"
(Continues to be offered every 8-12 weeks based on demand)
This course covers pumps, handling and storing breastmilk, bottle introduction, talking to your employer and maintaining supply, along with other concerns will be discussed. A convenient storage system will be shown so moms will be able to make their own. Handouts, sample storage bags, and a gift certificate for a phone consultation with Angela (worth $10.00) will be given to each mom attending. The class fee is $30.00 to be paid in advance in order to hold your spot in the class as class size is limited. For more details please email lactationlady@live.com
"Skip Baby Puree (AKA Understanding Baby-led Weaning and More)"
Marieta Boberg, Registered Dietician and IBCLC will be sharing this new information. Learn about the process of baby led weaning and when your baby is ready to start self-feeding. We will discuss why your baby doesn't need to start with pureed foods and what you can offer instead. Learn what nutrients are essential for your little one and what foods will meet your baby's growing needs. The class fee is $40.00 for the family to attend and is to be paid in advance in order to hold your spot in the class. This education will be held every 3 months. Join us for a fun night of preparing for your new life with baby! This interactive class is unlike any other class in our area! We created it specifically to address the questions and concerns we hear from so many families who don't feel prepared for those first few hours, days, and weeks after their baby's birth. There is a $50 class fee for you and your partner/support person if you register for this class. Class will be held at Eastview Community Center: 4101 E 42nd St, Des Moines, IA
"Mother's Milk for Multiples"
Having multiples can be both exciting and daunting, especially if you plan to breastfeed. In this class Angela will teach you how mom's body produces milk for the babies, how to establish a milk supply, different feeding strategies for breastfeeding more than one baby at a time, how to pump for multiples, different breastfeeding positions, how your partner can help, time management, and community resources available to you. Class fee is $40.00.
